In recent days (Nov 18), representatives of the Pan-European Memorial Committee (PEMC) participated in the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Letter of Reconciliation of the Polish Bishops to the German Bishops.
The observance began with a tribute at the monument of Cardinal Bolesław Kominek, where PEMC President Marek Mutor and the Director of the Ossoliński National Institute, Łukasz Kamiński (PEMC Board of Trustees memmer), laid flowers in remembrance.
The following day, the Aula of the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław hosted an international academic conference titled “The 60th Anniversary of the Letter of the Polish Bishops to the German Bishops.” During the conference, President Mutor presented the Pan-European Memorial for the Victims of Totalitarianism, outlining its purpose and current development.
In his remarks, Marek Mutor emphasized the need for a dedicated place of remembrance for the victims of totalitarian regimes, noting that preserving this memory is essential both for historical reflection and for strengthening contemporary democratic resilience.
