Taiwanese delegation in Prague

Prague – On September 6, 2024, Minister of the Government of Taiwan Ming-Hsin Lin met the managing director of the Platform, Peter Rendek, and representatives of several Platform member organisations in Prague. The meeting took place at the premises of the Security Services Archive, represented by the Miroslav Urbánek, Director of the Archive, and Lubomír Augustín, Head of Office, together with Kamil Nedvědický, First Deputy Director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes.

Together with the delegation from the Department of Human Rights and Transitional Justice of the Executive Yuan, the visit focused on exchanging and sharing experiences in the field of post-communist transition processes, education, archives management, legal solutions and international cooperation of memory institutions in democratic countries.

The delegation visited the premises and workplaces of the archive department in Prague-Braník, where they received an expert lecture on the management of the archive funds of the former Czechoslovak communist intelligence service with a focus on the Far East and China. Subsequently, they visited the digitization and restoration workplace, where the staff demonstrated damaged archival materials and their repair, the digitization system and other work with scanned copies.

The Taiwanese delegation was interested in international cooperation and the work of institutions within the professional organisation Platform of European Memory and Conscience, where they were given a brief overview by Peter Rendek.
