28 March, Brussels – President of the Platform (PEMC) Mr Marek Mutor presented the activities of the organization at the meeting with the MEPs` from the European Remembrance Group in the European Parliament in Brussels on 28 March. The meeting was attended by a dozen representatives of several political factions, including Ms Rasa Juknevičienė (President of the Group, LT, EPP), Ms Anna Fotyga (PL, EKR), Mr Bernard Guetta (FR, Renew) and Mr Juozas Olekas (LT, PSS).
The main topic of the meeting was the presentation of a Pan-European memorial to the victims of all totalitarian systems, which could be built in Brussels in the coming years. The details of the project were discussed by Mr Tszwai So, who is the author of the concept of the memorial, selected in 2017 following an international competition. The project itself is a response to a call contained in a 2009 EP resolution. The assembled MEPs expressed their unequivocal support for the idea of building the memorial.
On 29 March Marek Mutor and Mrs. Andreja Valič Zver, a member of the PEMC Executive Board, attended the celebration of the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. On this occasion, a conference and the opening of an exhibition were held at the EP, with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, Mr Piotr Gliński, and a number of institutions and organisations, and in the presence of representatives of the diplomatic corps.
