Exhibition and educational tools presented in Romania

Prague, 25 July – The Platform exhibition Century of Martyrs, educational reader for older secondary school students Lest We Forget. Memory of Totalitarianism in Europe as well as the board game Across the Iron Curtain were presented at the 31th Bálványos Free Summer University and Student Camp in Băile Tușnad in Romania on 19 – 24 July 2022.

The event included a debate Memory, amnesia, history moderated by Mr Zsolt Szilágyi, Platform Executive Board member. Speakers in the debate were Mr Peter Rendek, Platform Managing Director; Ms Boróka Prohászka Rád from Sapientia University, Cluj-Napoca; Professor Gabriel Andreescu from National School for Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) in Buchares; Mr Florian Mihalcea, director of Timisoara Society and Mr Áron Mathé, the Vice-Chairman of the Hungarian Committee of National Remembrance.

After the debate, exhibition courator Wojciech Bednarski, Peter Rendek and Zsolt Szilágyi introduced the exhibition Century of Martyrs and presented book and the board game.

The Bálványos Free Summer University and Student Camp is a large-scale intellectual workshop of the Carpathian Basin held annually in Baile Tusnad since 1990. This year, the panel discussions on topical public and political issues have been grouped into the themes: war in Ukraine and its consequences, the economic situation and crisis management, the future of Europe, and Hungarian national policy. Every year dozens of institutions organize educational events for participants.
