Prague, 11 July – On 7 July, Platform President Marek Mutor visited Prague and, together with Neela Winkelmann and managing director Peter Rendek, met with the Head of the Government Office Jana Kotalíková to discuss international cooperation and projects during the Czech EU Presidency.
The Government of the Czech Republic has previously supported memory policies and institutions at both domestic and international level in its policy statement. Following this effort, the Platform for European Memory and Conscience, together with the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and the Twentieth Century Memorial Museum, is organising an international conference entitled: Russia’s Hybrid War against the Democratic World. A Challenge for European Memory Policy.
The conference will be held in Prague on 16-18 November. Representatives of 68 governmental and non-governmental organisations focused on historical memory from the EU and third countries will be invited to the conference and the annual meeting.
The Platform’s project for a Pan-European Memorial for the victims of all totaliatrian regimes in Brussels was also discussed.
After the visit to the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, a meeting was held with the new Director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, Mr Ladislav Kudrna. They discussed mutual cooperation and director Kudrna expressed his willingness to rejoin the Platform during the annual meeting.
Finally, a meeting was held in Prague with Mr Jan Kalous, Director of the Twentieth Century Memorial Museum, to discuss cooperation on the aforementioned conference.
