Debate in Prague on the importance of memory for the future of Europe

Prague, April 7th – Representatives of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience and guests from Polish memory institutions participated in a debate on ‘the importance of memory for the future of Europe’. The activities of the Platform and Polish memory institutions were presented as well as the current challenges in the field of research and commemoration of modern history. The falsification of history and the ongoing information war were also discussed. Invitations were accepted by Mr. Marek Mutor, President of the PEMC and Director of Centrum Historii Zajezdnia, Mr. Paweł Ukielski from the Warsaw Uprising Museum, and Mr. Maciej Ruczaj, Director of the Polish Institute in Prague. The debate was moderated by Mr. Peter Rendek, Executive Director of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience.

This event was held as part of the ‘Encounters with History on the Embankment’ (5 – 12 April 2022) week of events, organised by the Platform’s member organisation, the Museum of Memory of the XXth Century, together with the City of Prague.
