Prague, 26 January 2021 – During the 2020 annual Council of Members meeting held online on Monday, 25 January 2021, the Platform of European Memory and Conscience (PEMC) approved the annual report for 2019, admitted and granted full membership to its 2019 candidate organisation, and the candidate status was granted to five new applicant organisations.
Member organisations, Executive and Supervisory Board members, as well as the new applicants met online (in total more than 50 people). The annual council, chaired by its President Dr. Lukasz Kamiński, admitted and granted full membership to its 2019 candidate Gariwo, la foresta dei Giusti from Italy. Another five new applicant organisations from five countries were admitted with the candidate status.
New candidates of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience admitted in 2020 are:
- Georgian National Museum (GEO)
- The Twentieth Century Memorial Museum (CZE)
- UIPN State Archive (UKR)
- Jože Pučnik Institute (SVN)
- Museum of Communist Terror (GBR)
Ms Monika Kareniauskaitė from Lithuania was re-elected as a member of the PEMC Supervisory Board.
The Platform is now networking 68 (63 members, 5 candidates) institutions and organisations from 23 countries (Albania, Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States of America).
